The Kelowna Capital News recently covered the efforts of our colleague Tess Guay, who is urging the City of Kelowna to permit free on-street parking for Canadian veterans. As Tess notes, veterans injured or disabled as a result of their service to Canada need to use vehicles to get to medical and other appointments around town. Free parking provides a financial break to veterans while offering a gesture of respect and gratitude for their service. We hope Kelowna will choose to join BC municipalities, including Penticton, Vernon, Kamloops, the City of Vancouver, and several Lower Mainland suburban cities, in offering our veterans a financial break that goes some small way to show that we appreciate their service and sacrifices.
