John M. Cameron*
Lawyer
Vancouver

John has been a civil litigation lawyer with Murphy Battista since 2015. In his 20+ year career, he has helped over 3,000 people obtain compensation after injury with the vast majority settling outside of court. When a trial has been necessary, John has a successful trial record, including over 50 trials in the BC Supreme Court in front of judges and juries, and successes at the BC Court of Appeal.
A long and successful career with the Vancouver Police Department sparked John’s interest in practicing law. He was awarded a medal for distinguished service from the Lieutenant Governor, speaks fluent Cantonese from his exemplary service in the Chinese community and authored the book, Cantonese for Law Enforcement, a field translation guide for police officers.
With his extensive background, John covers a wide range of cases. These include class action lawsuits, motor vehicle collision cases, professional negligence cases, assault and battery cases, false arrest and false imprisonment cases, defamation and libel actions, denials of coverage by insurance companies, and fraud and misrepresentation cases.
John lives in Vancouver with his long-time partner, Summer Kelly. When not working he enjoys exercising, playing chess, travel and is a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks and the Miami Dolphins.
John frequently presents to lawyers in Canada and in the United States on effective trial techniques, where his knowledge and past experience give him a unique perspective on litigation.
