Joe Battista, K.C.
Partner
Vancouver

Joe is one of Murphy Battista’s founders. Prior to starting the firm in 1982, Joe worked as in-house counsel with the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia, looking after the interests of children and people with developmental or cognitive challenges. This work showed him just how often people and families are overwhelmed by the complexities of the legal system.
This experience led to Battista joining with Joe Murphy, KC, to create Murphy Battista, a unique law firm with an emphasis on an individual’s health and rehabilitation, supporting the client and their families in their recovery.
Joe is a frequent speaker on brain injury, mental health, mental competency, and other injury-related topics. In 2001, he had the honour of presenting at the World Congress on Brain Injury in Italy.
Outside of his work, Joe spends time visiting his family home in a small town in southern Italy, is an avid soccer fan, and enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, and riding his motorcycle.
An accomplished litigation lawyer and speaker, Joe was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2009, now King’s Counsel as of September 8, 2022.
