What is this proposed claim about?
This proposed class action concerns the contamination of drinking water in the Village of Granisle in British Columbia.
The lawsuit alleges that problems with the design, operation, and monitoring of the Granisle municipal water treatment system allowed elevated levels of aluminum and other contaminants to enter the community’s drinking water. The claim further alleges that the Village of Granisle failed to adequately investigate water quality concerns, properly maintain and monitor the water treatment system, and warn people about potential risks to the safety of the drinking water.
In December 2025, a Do Not Consume order was issued for the Granisle water system after testing confirmed elevated aluminum concentrations in the drinking water.
The proposed class action is brought on behalf of people who consumed water supplied by the Granisle community water system between January 1, 2018 and the date the December 15, 2025 Do Not Consume order is lifted.
The claim seeks compensation for affected individuals and asks the Court to hold the defendants accountable for negligence in relation to the design, operation, and management of the water treatment system.
