John Cameron is representing the family of Arlene Westerfelt in a lawsuit against two former RCMP officers. Ms. Westerfelt’s body was found in Lake Okanagan in 2016 after a canoeing accident. Initially treated as an accident, the situation turned into an investigation that resulted in second-degree murder charges against Ms. Westerfelt’s husband. However, the charges were stayed for last year based on new evidence that the Crown said reduced the likelihood of conviction. The nature of the that evidence has not been disclosed, leaving the family searching for answers.

John was interviewed by CTV News about the claim that alleges that interference in the police investigation into Ms. Westerfelt’s death resulted in critical evidence being lost, including evidence regarding the cause of her death.
