On July 27, 2023, CTV interviewed John Cameron about the class action lawsuit certified against the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) on behalf of approximately 1,150 patients who had interactions with an unlicensed nurse during her employment at B.C. Women’s Hospital (BCWH) for more than a year. This legal action could provide a collective path to justice for those affected by the deception of Brigitte Cleroux.
John Cameron emphasized the difficulty of individuals taking legal action separately. He explained:
As the court noted in this decision, the chances of any one individual woman issuing her own lawsuit against the hospital is very slim because it’s not practical to do so,” but if they could all work together—then there’s a chance that all of them could get access to justice.
On August 17th it was announced that additional charges have been laid against Bridget Cleroux on Vancouver Island. Watch the latest update to this case here.
John is part of the legal team at Murphy Battista, led by Scott Stanley, that is pursuing this class action. Learn more about what to do if you are affected here: (Cleroux) Provincial Health Services Authority Class Action.
