Leyna was born and raised in Saskatchewan. Following high school, she studied history at the University of Saskatchewan and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002.
Subsequently, she pursued a career in education graduating from the University of Calgary with her Bachelor of Education in 2005. The same year she returned to the University of Saskatchewan to attend law school and received her Bachelor of Laws in 2008.
Leyna articled with a general practice firm in Kamloops, and remained there after her call to the Bar in 2009. While in the interior, she practiced general litigation focusing on areas of employment law, estate litigation and plaintiff’s personal injury. She has participated in proceedings before the Rental Tenancy Branch, Human Rights Tribunal and Employment Standards Branch. Leyna has also appeared before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia as well as the Court of Appeal.
Leyna relocated to Vancouver in 2011, and has been dedicated to the representation of plaintiffs in personal injury claims since.
As a newcomer to the coast, Leyna enjoys exploring all it has to offer, by hiking in the wilderness surrounding Vancouver as well as enjoying the cornucopia of events within.
