The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our Vancouver office. This in-office opportunity will report to the Accounting Manager, and will be part-time, ideally working 5 – 6 hours on Tues, Wed and Thurs each week.

The Accounting Clerk is a key part of the MB team, working closely with the Accounting Manager, paralegals and lawyers to ensure timely accounting for the smooth running of the firm. Prior experience in a law firm or professional services firm is ideal but not required for this role.

You take pride in your attention to detail and ability to multi-task. You understand the importance of deadlines and can prioritize or seek input to ensure timelines are met. You are also comfortable working in, and ideally have been a part of transitioning to, a paperless work environment. You also enjoy contributing to a positive and collaborative work culture.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • —Process accounts payable.
  • —Follow-up on overdue payments.
  • Check AP invoices against purchase orders and follow-up on variances with appropriate person.
  • Enter AR invoices into the accounting system.
  • Prepare bank deposits for the Trust and General accounts.
  • Post soft charges from all MB offices.
  • Assist with billing accounts for clients.
  • Assist with Year-End functions as required.
  • Carry out other related projects and tasks as assigned.

The experience you will bring:

  • —  Diploma or Certificate in Accounting or related field
  • 1 or 2 years of accounting related experience focused on AP and AR in a computerized accounting environment (AP and GL), ideally using Soluno.
  • Competent in Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated written and oral English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with various office procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

This part-time position is an in-office role, and the salary is anticipated to be between $60,000-$70,000 – depending on the candidate’s qualifications – pro-rated based on actual hours worked.
