| Upon being called to the Bar in 1998,
Stephen developed a practice handling insurance defence files on
behalf of I.C.B.C. In 2001, Stephen began to develop his practice
in plaintiff personal injury ranging from motor vehicle negligence
to product liability. In 2002, he formed his own practice and subsequently
joined Murphy Battista in February of 2003.
Stephen has either resolved or worked on a number major loss claims
involving ICBC since joining the firm. He specializes in acting
for clients with traumatic brain injury, paraplegia, quadriplegia,
chronic pain, psychiatric injuries and other trauma induced injuries.
He has acted for people from all walks of life, ranging from doctors,
lawyers, tradesmen, nurses, firefighters, police, teachers and all
kinds of various labour positions. Understanding a person’s
job requirements helps to clarify what questions need to be answered
with respect to a person’s ongoing injuries and how it may
affect their careers.
Stephen is currently an executive in the Trial Lawyers Association
of British Columbia. He is also a member of the American Association
for Justice.
Stephen married his wife Yumiko in 2001 and has two daughters aged
3½ years and 10 months old. He enjoys traveling throughout
the world and remains active playing soccer. Stephen is a member
of a Canadian national team that participates in a World Cup for
lawyers on a bi-annual basis.
