For over two decades the conference has successfully provided an interactive learning experience by bringing together national and international experts on brain injury in order to promote the best practices, research and opportunities.

Speakers include Dr. Michael Ungar from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Ungar is a family therapist and a Killam Professor of Social Work at Dalhousie University. He co-directs the Resilience Research Centre which coordinates research initiatives worldwide. He will be presenting on the role of families, communities and service providers in the individual’s resilience and ability to access the proper resources required for their well-being.

The conference will take place over two days, June 13th and June 14th, and will cover numerous topics related to Brain Injuries including concussions, post-traumatic stress disorder, holistic benefits of physical activity on brain injuries, community based support systems and behavioral changes after brain injuries.

The conference is taking place at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO), located at the north end of the City of Kelowna. UBC Okanagan has a reputation as a leading and respected institution of learning and research.

Registration is open to all members of the public. Interested parties can register for the event on the website. Coffee, tea, and other refreshments will be made available throughout the two days — boxed lunch is also included in the registration price.
